Cem A. is an artist and writer based in Berlin. He is known for his collaborative performances and for running the art meme page freeze_magazine. He has a background in anthropology.

He has lectured at the Royal College of Art and Central Saint Martins, London; HEAD, Geneva; Pratt Institute, New York; University of Amsterdam; University of Applied Arts Vienna; KASK School of Arts, Ghent; HDK Valand, Gothenburg; Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig; and Universität der Künste, Berlin. He has led workshops and talks at Para Site and Asia Art Archive, Hong Kong; and Bundeskunsthalle, Bonn. His writing has appeared in Spike, Ocula, Artnet, Monopol and Ibraaz.
